Abstract

Learning media is one of the factors that can influence the success of the learning process in class. The limited availability of media in schools can influence student interest and learning outcomes to be low. The purpose of this study was to develop and produce comic-based learning media as a means of knowledge information. Besides, it aimed to determine the value of validation score and student responses to biology comics as a medium of information in learning. Media development was carried out using a 3D model, a modification of the Thiagarajan 4D model consisting of the define, design, and develop steps. This development process was supported by drawing tablets, SAI Paint Tool and Photoshop applications to produce e-comics. The results of the validation values of the material, presentation, language, and comic graphics were 89.3 with a ‘very decent’ category. While the students response to the application of the media that had been developed for learning was 88.5 with a ‘very good’ response category. Science comics resulting from this development were deemed very appropriate for use in schools as a medium of information in learning.
