For this reason, rational personality can affect mathematics learning and students mathematical communication skills in writing. The written indicators of mathematical communication in this research are interpreting ideas, symbols, terms and mathematical information in writing and writing ideas for solving strategies with their own language. Therefore, rational personality is considered as one type of personality that students should have. This study was conducted in a descriptive qualitative manner aimed at analyzing mathematical communication skills of students who have rational personalities. The research subjects were 20 students in class VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Purwodadi. Data collection techniques through questionnaires, test descriptions and interviews. The results of this study are students who have rational personalities able to interpret ideas, symbols, terms and mathematical information have a percentage of 30% in the low category and 90% of students who have rational personalities are able to write mathematical completion strategy ideas with their own language. However, there is a tendency not to write down reasons in answering questions.
