Abstract
This paper aims to apply the decision-making approach to the selection of electricity generators in educational institutions. The method used in this research is the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). AHP method is used in the initial stages, to identify and determine the criteria weights through pairwise comparison analysis. Then the TOPSIS method is used to weigh the alternatives to produce priority order. The results showed that there were eight criteria used to choose an electric generator: price, warranty, capacity, maintenance costs, ease of service, reliability, durability, and noise level. The application of these two methods is proven to be able to help decision-makers to solve problems by utilizing non-numeric and numeric data sources to produce the best solutions in the selection of alternatives.
