Abstract

Problem solving abilities encourage students to think critically of looking at each problem. Mathematical disposition of students manifested through their attitud and behavior in choosing problem solving strategies. The purpose of this study to analyze students problems in the ability to solve problems seen from the level of mathematical disposition. The method used descriptive qualitative method with the subject of three students used as a sample consisting of students with a high level of mathematical disposition (T), medium (S), and low (R) selected from 27 students of class XI SMK in Salatiga by using purposive random sampling. The instrument used in the form of a questionnaire and test description. Data validity used data triangulation methods. Data analysis is done by collecting data, reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that students with high and moderate mathematical disposition levels were unable to fufill indicators of mathematical problem solving abilities, such as understanding problems and checking their answers, while students with low disposition levels were unable to fulfill all indicators of mathematical problem solving abilities. By referring to the results of this study, shows that student’s mathematical disposition is related to problem solving abilities.
