Abstract
With its growing importance, warehouse operation needs visibility and traceability to reduce complexity and streamline its processes. Employing Internet-of-Things (IoT) technology to enable real-time visibility and traceability has become a trend in warehouse operation today, especially in the advanced economies or developed countries. However, in developing countries, digitalization through the use of IoT is more challenging to do due to various limitations that they have. With this knowledge, the purpose of this study is to develop a framework for designing an IoT-based smart warehouse infrastructure in the context of developing countries. Following the study purpose, literature review and situation analysis were conducted. This study proposes a viable framework that can be used by companies in developing countries to design their own IoT-based smart warehouse infrastructure. The proposed framework can drive companies to move towards industry 4.0 in terms of digitalizing warehouse operation which can also drive the economic growth of the country. This study also offers a theoretical insight for academia or researchers to direct a future study and practical knowledge for practitioners to make a better decision in their business.
