Identification of dominant waste in the production process at the garment industry

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify waste in the production process of making one of the products in the XYZ garment company. Waste in this study refers to the lean manufacturing method. The methods used in this study are VSM (Value Stream Mapping), WAM (Waste Assessment Model), VALSAT (Value Stream Analysis Tools), PAM (Process Activity Mapping), and FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis) method. The results of this study are the highest types of waste that affect other wastage is a defect. After checking all the production processes, the sewing process is a process that causes a lot of mistakes where the highest cause is the thread is cut off when the sewing takes place. For that, we need further research to solve it.
