Abstract
This paper, proposes a smart lighting system with an emphasis on improving energy efficiency and smart warning. The proposed lighting system has an adaptation of light intensity according to the lighting requirements. The system also has a water level sensor to monitor floods, as well as sending a warning to the control center if the lights are detected damaged or require maintenance. The system was built using a low-power micro controller and has the ability to connect to the internet, motion sensors, light sensors, and water level sensors, and solar panel systems as a backup power source. The experimental results show that the system is able to save energy by 48% when compared to lighting using conventional metal halogen lamps and provides smart warnings to the control center.
