Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of multi-representation of high school students on the topic of motion kinematics. The research method used is quantitative non-experimental. The instrument used a multi-representation ability test in the form of 10 multiple choice items of tenth grade kinematics for the first semester. The validity of the instrument items was determined using the product-moment correlation technique (pearson), and the validity coefficient was obtained between 0.42 (moderate) to 0.61 (high). KR-21 determined instrument reliability and a coefficient of 0.40 was obtained with average criteria. The data collected were anal through an assessment rubric using descriptive-analytical techniques. The results showed that the results of the student^s multi-representation ability profile on the motion kinematics material as a whole were still in the ^low^ category, obtained the highest percentage of verbal representational abilities by 50% and the lowest presentation by 24% in graphical representations. The percentage of the ability of representation in each aspect were the ability of translation, interpretation, and interpolation / extrapolation which is the greatest ability of the aspect of interpretation. It is equal to 40% and the lowest is the aspect of interpolation / extrapolation which is equal to 31%.
