Application of Blended Learning with Edmodo Based on POE Learning Model to Increase Understanding of Student Concepts

Abstract

The process of teaching science teaching in Junior High School in Jakarta is still running monoton that is still using conventional method, so that students are more passive. Utilization of technology and the internet is less effective, whereas facilities and infrastructure that exist in school is complete. This study aims to determine the application of blended learning with edmodo based on POE (Predict-Observe-Explain) learning model. The method used in this research is the quasi-experimental method with the research design of The Randomized Post-Test Only Control Group Design, which involved 202 students as samples. Sample determination used the random sampling cluster technique. The treatment instruments in this study were lesson plan, edmodo platform, and student^s worksheet. The measuring instrument consists of a understanding of students concept test. The data analysis technique is Paired Sample T-test. Based on the results of research, application of blended learning with edmodo based on POE (Predict-Observe-Explain) learning model can improve understanding of students concept.
