DEVELOPING STUDENTS MOTIVATION IN A SPORT EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITY AT SMA 2 PASUNDAN BANDUNG

Abstract

The students at SMA 2 Pasundan Bandung Bandung have different motivations in participating in a sport extracurricular activity. There are seven need motivations from Abraham Maslow. This research uses descriptive method. The population which is researched is the students from SMA 2 Pasundan Bandung Bandung. The sample is chosen by total campling technic with total students of 71 students who take a sport extracurricular activity. The research shows that the student^s motivation in participating in such activity are varies- the result shows that 80.11% is because the need of physiological with good category- while the need of safe feeling is at 84.75% with very good category- the need of passion is at 73.68% with good category- the need of proud is at 74.08% with good category- the need of cognitive is at 83.62% with good category- the esthetic need is at 81.87% with very good category- and the need to self-actualizing and self-realizing is at 87.64% with very good category. The result shows that from seven need motivations, the need to self-actualizing and self-realizing is the most motivation with 87.64%, while the need of passion has the lowest percentage with 73.68%. The students in this school have a good appraisal to sport extracurricular activity based from the overall seven need motivation with 80.69% which is in good category
