Abstract

Recently, the triathlon sport has become increasingly popular. as evidenced by the number of athletes who continue to increase from year to year. Men and women are also concerned about participating in this sport. long-distance tracks, careful training preparation, time spent, and the costs required to support training and competition make triathlon a challenging and tiring sport. Women^s participation starts from motive until it turns into intrinsic and extrinsic motivation through seriousness in practicing, although motivation is still unstable. In fact, motives provide the power to build self-confidence to initiate intense involvement in activities. Motivation encourages people to think, act, and develop until they participate actively. Meanwhile, as a triathlon athlete, female athletes must also carry out household activities at home as befits women in Indonesian culture (multiple roles). The experiential information they get during the exercise affects their confidence to learn to improve and maintain a sustainable performance. Therefore, through a qualitative approach, exploration of motives is needed to increase understanding and become an important guide in visualizing the approach in training practice. The purpose of this paper is to reveal a scientific study of the motives of triathlon female athletes on the sustainability of participation in triathlon sports.
