Abstract

This study aims to develop an innovative productive learning model to improve optimally the soft skills ability students of vocational high schools (SMK). The developmental research referred to the research and development (R&D) proposed by Richey & Klein which included the introduction study; initial product development; product test through expert and practitioner validity; and final product test in cycle which through quasi experiment. The result of the study is as follow. There was a gap between the need of soft skills of workplace demands in manufacture sector and aspects of soft skills that have been developed in vocational high schools. The gaps of needs were in the aspects of discipline, responsibility, communication/presentation, cooperation, and problem solving. The model design consists of three components, such as objectives (basic competency and indicator), learning procedure (material organization, material delivery and learning management), and evaluation. Model design produce a product which include syllabus, handout, learning guide, lesson plan, and evaluation. The result of the product showed that all of produced model plan and product is categorized into good.
