Abstract

West Java is flowed by various rivers that are vital for peoples lives, one of which is the Citarum River. Since the decree of President instruction No. 15 of 2018 concerning the acceleration of pollution control and damage to the Citarum River Area, indicates that the government is serious to take care quality of water and environmental pollution in the Citarum watershed. The Citarum watershed has become an emergency area for water pollution, which comes from household waste, garbage, and industrial waste. Seeing the seriousness of the government to neutralize pollution in the Citarum River, thus, it is important to build devices that can collect wastes in the Citarum watershed. Besides, It is difficult to collect medium and small size trash from the Citarum River, so we need a device that is easy to operate and saves operating costs. Furthermore, the aim of this study is to design and fabricate a garbage collection device in the form of a double-hulled boat (Catamaran) that is controlled remotely using a radio control system to collect wastes in the river. This device is equipped with a conveyor system that will later pull light to medium trash into the collection tube in the boat. This device is 100 cm long, 80 cm wide using fiberglass material. For the boat drive system using a PG-45 type DC motor. Meanwhile, the conveyor drive system uses a Power Window Motor type DC motor. The voltage source uses a battery 12-24 volts 10 amperes. And for the control system using a 6 CH remote control range of 100-500 meters.
