Abstract

A study of the Dual Drainage Model of urban drainage in accommodating runoff due to the inadequate existing drainage channels, being urged to do, the phenomenon of flooding that flooded residential areas became a source of disaster for life. The purpose of this study is to provide an alternative to reduce the inundation that occurs in residential areas with limited land.
The approach used is explanatory, which explains the natural phenomena that occur as well as the systemic linkage of the parameters of the flow, the existing drainage network, potential inundation by installing the dual drainage on existing drainage channels. The phenomenon of runoff occurring in the residential area indicates the presence of runoff on the main drainage leading to outlets (natural rivers) and the flow rate exceeds the provisions above 2.00 m/sec (as a threshold). Simulated results with dual drainage installed underground with a diameter of the 1.50-meter concrete pipeline indicating the presence of decreased runoff and decreased flow rate, effectiveness after installed dual drainage reaches 69.28% on existing drainage network. Thus, the installation of dual drainage in existing channels for residential areas with limited land is the best alternative in reducing runoff.

Keywords: Inundation, flood, dual drainage, runoff.
