POLLINATOR DIVERSITY OF CUCUMBER (Cucumis sativus Linn.) IN ORGANIC AND CONVENTIONAL AGRICULTURE

Abstract

Pollinators have an important role in pollinating food crops. The diversity of pollinators on organic and conventional agriculture as important information in managing agricultural land. This research is to compare diversity and abundance, number of species, and individuals against the time of visit on organic and conventional cucumber farms. This research was conducted in June 2020 for 7 days with 300 cucumber plants on each organic and conventional land within 200 m. The collection methods are active (insect nets) and passive (yellow and blue pan traps). The results of the data analysis show that organic land has an index in the medium category 1-3 (H ^= 1.57), Simpson dominance index (D = 0.40), even pielou index (E = 0.58). Conventional land has a low index (H ^= 0.69), Simpson dominance index (D = 0.72), and pielou evenness index (E = 0.33). Eleven species are found on organic cucumber farms, namely Xylocopa confusa, X. Latipes, Apis cerana, A. dorsata, Heterotrigona itama, Hypolimnas bolina, H. Misippus, Euripus nyctelius, Euploea mulciber, Neptis hylas, and Delias hyparete. On conventional cucumber farms, 2 species that were not found were Euripus nyctelius and Euploea mulciber.
