Abstract

Rainfall data is very useful information for agricultural communities, especially those who depend on rainfed irrigation systems. The availability of information regarding rainfall predictions will help the community to make plans, so as to avoid crop failure. Rain cycle prediction can be done using rainfall data, however, rainfall data is classified as non-periodic data. The study of the prediction of non-periodic phenomena can be discussed using the Fourier approach, especially the Fourier transform. This study aims to make predictions of the rain cycle in the district of Lima Puluh Kota. The data in this study collected from online data published by BMKG which reference station for this study is the Minangkabau Meteorological Station. Analysis was carried out on rainfall data from January 2010 to December 2020 (132 months). The study results show that the rain cycle period in the district of Lima Puluh Kota ranges from 9 to 10 months. This explains why the rainy season pattern that occurs in the district of Lima Puluh Kota has shifted. These results explain why in the last decade there has been a change in the pattern of the rainy season, from what started from September to February to be less short.
