The Effect of Banana Stems Compost and Various Tuber Sizes of G4 Potato Seed on Growth, Yield and Quality of Potato Var. Granola Uin Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung Abstract he production of vegetable potato Granola variety can be increased by the use of correct seeds and sustainable agricultural management through the application of organic fertilizers. This study aimed to determine the effect of banana stem compost and G4 potato tuber seedling size on the growth, yield and quality of potato Var. Granola. This research was conducted in Margamukti Village, Pangalengan Bandung from June to August 2015. The research was a two-factorial randomized block design with three replications. The first factors was the tuber size : 25 - 30 g tuber-1, 45 - 50 g tuber-1 and 65 - 70 g tuber-1. The second factor was the banana stem compost dose: control, 10 tons ha-1, 15 tons ha-1, 20 tons ha-1, and 30 t ha-1. The results showed interaction between the tuber size and compost banana stem to the increase of fresh weight at 90 days after planting. Seed tuber size provided an independent effect on plant height, number of stolon productive, harvest index and quality (grading). The banana stems compost had significant effect on the number of productive stolon and harvest index. The seed tubers 25-30 g tuber-1 and 45 - 50 g tuber-1 generated the highest result on the L grade (101-200 g tuber-1), the using of 65 - 70 g tuber-1 had the highest number on S grade (<50 g tuber-1). The compost banana stems that is recommended is 20 tons ha-1. Meanwhile, the smaller tuber seedling are used if the large potatoes are desired, but a larger potatoes seedling are use if production is purposed to produce small potatoes.
