Abstract

This research is based on a need for a basic physics model that is able to fulfill the competence of mathematics literacy of mathematics teacher candidates. One of the competencies of mathematics literacy of mathematics teacher candidates is the skill of mathematical thinking process in constructing a representation model. This study aims to test and see the effect of student models and worksheets developed in improving the construction skills of mathematical representation and graphics. In an implementation program in this study using the quasi-experiment research method with the matching only control group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of the research amounted to 50 students of mathematics teacher candidate at one of Cirebon city private universities. The results of the product implementation test show that the use of the model Physics-oriented Course Program for Construction of Mathematical and Graphic Representations (POCP-CMGR) has a strong influence on the improvement of construction skills of mathematical representation and student graphs. Usage has high effectiveness in improving the ability of construction representation. Through this model shows the change of attitude of students of mathematics teacher candidates in viewing the relevance and urgency of basic physics for the fulfillment of competence of candidates for mathematics teachers.
