Abstract

This study aims to determine the quality of the analytical thinking ability instrument for the material of chemical equilibrium. The analytical thinking ability instrument is an instrument to determine the level of students^ analytical thinking skills which includes 20 items essay questions. Analytical thinking skills are viewed from three aspects, namely connecting, differentiating, and organizing. This study used a quantitative descriptive method with the following steps: (1) Examine aspects of analytical thinking skills in the material of chemical equilibrium, (2) Develop a test instrument design that refers to the aspects of analytical thinking skills, basic competencies, and competency achievement indexes, (3) Perform content and construct validation, and (4) Test the instrument in a limited scope. Data analysis using the Rasch model with the QUEST application. Data analysis result of this instrument trial on 85 students showed that there were 18 valid items and 2 invalid items, with a cronbach-alpha value of 0.71, which indicates that the questions are in the reliable category.
