Abstract

Physics teaching materials can be found in everyday life. One of the materials for high school physics class XII is about the magnetic properties of materials. Generally, learning process in the classroom, this material only explains the types and examples of magnetic materials. Magnetic materials that can be found in everyday life such as iron, aluminum, and silver include ferromagnetic, paramagnetic and diamagnetic materials. This physics learning material can be related to the geothermal potential of the relationship between magnetic intensity and the susceptibility (magnetic level) of magnetic materials and their effect on rising temperatures below the earth^s surface. This study aims to explain the relationship between the susceptibility of magnetic materials and the geothermal potential in physics learning for high school class XII using magnetic methods. This method can interpret the layers and rock types that are not visible beneath the earth^s surface. The measurement result of the magnetic method is the magnetic intensity of the magnetic material beneath the earth^s surface which can be used to predict the geothermal potential.
