Abstract

The period of the Covid-19 pandemic is a challenge for teachers in various regions. Since the implementation of distance learning, teachers must present learning that is more interesting. The implementation of this learning makes the teacher have to change various habits and increase competence by utilizing technology and information which is very important. The purpose of this study is to see that there are significant differences between professional competencies regarding the use of technology and information for physics teachers before and during the pandemic, and to see the relationship between these competencies and teacher performance during distance learning. This study used a survey research method with a quantitative descriptive approach. Sampling using simple random sampling technique, the number of samples of 20 high school teachers in the city of Bandung. The instrument used is in the form of a questionnaire or questionnaire. The results of data analysis showed that the average competency value before the pandemic was 43.9 <during the pandemic of 72.6, descriptively there was a difference in the average. By using the paired sample t test, a significance value of 0.000 <0.05 was obtained, so that this pandemic period had a significant effect on the competence of the use of technology and information for physics teachers. The correlation between teacher competence and performance using the Spearman rank correlation test, obtained a correlation coefficient value of 0.456 with a ^sufficient^ strength level and a positive direction. The significance value was obtained 0.0043 <0.05, which means that there is a significant relationship between the two variables.
