Research trends and the current state of STEM games impact on collaborative problem solving: Finding from a bibliometric analysis 1Program Studi Pendidikan IPA, Sekolah Pascasarjana, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Jl. Setiabudhi No. 229, Bandung, 40154, Indonesia Abstract Collaborative problem solving is the principal concept in STEM education to understand the problem constraints and create team goals toward a real solution. Accordingly, this study conducts a bibliometric analysis to investigate the impact of STEM games on improving collaborative problem-solving skills and its related fields between 2011 and 2021. This work collected bibliographic data by searching for collaborative problem-solving publications with the keyword collaborative problem-solving in STEM games through an online database. The topic networks were constructed by using collected bibliographic data to identify research trends of collaborative problem-solving. This study found that the number of collaborative problem-solving publications increased rapidly from 2011. Among the various topics, collaborative problem, twenty-first-century assessment, scientific discovery game, collaborative inquiry play, collaborative augmented reality, and science serious games have become important research subjects in STEM game studies, while topics related to computer science education had received less attention regarding the number of publications by the mid-2011s. These spotlighted topics shifted toward reality games and computer games following collaborative online games. The proposed method can help an efficient understanding of research patterns in STEM game studies involving collaborative problem-solving. The analyzed trend is supposed to provide researchers in this field with a better insight into STEM studies. Keywords: Collaborative Problem-Solving, STEM, Games, Bibliometric Topic: STEM Education |
