Abstract

Statistics is known to emphasize the inductive approach which begins by presenting a number of special circumstances and then concludes it into a fact, principle, or rule. But on the other hand, mathematical statistics as an advanced abstract subject requires a lot of deductive approaches in learning. Thus, this study examines two different approaches to learning mathematics statistics with the concept of variable random and their distribution to develop statistical thinking abilities in Mathematics Education students.

Keywords: Inductive approach, deductive approach, statistical thinking abilities, variable random
