Abstract

This goal of this study was to explore the problems encountered by students of the physics education study program in modern physics course. Twenty-eight students who took modern physics course became the participants in this research. The method used in this research was quantitative-description with a questionnaire and documentation as a data collection instrument. Data was collected in the 2020-2021 academic year. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics. The results of this study showed that 42.86% of students had difficulty mastering the concepts of modern physics, 35.72% of students experienced signal disturbances in learning, 25% of students said learning process was very interesting, and 71.57% of students said they never conduct modern physics practicum. Based on the results of data analysis, it was recommended that modern physics learning be collaborated with practicum to improve students^ mastery of concepts.
