Abstract

The gap that occurs between the concept image of material will greatly affect a person in understanding the material correctly and will be an obstacle in studying the next material. The aim of this study is to examine the gaps of concept image that occur in the limit of functions in prospective mathematics teachers. Data were obtained from 15 prospective mathematics teachers who took a written test and semi-structured interviews. Qualitative research data with a phenomenology study approach were analyzed descriptively. The results show that the gaps that occur in the concept of limit functions consist of the definition of the limit of the function, neighborhoods, graph approaching, infinity, the relationship between the value of the limit of the function and the value of the function. This finding can become one of the considerations for studies for calculus lecturers.
