Abstract

Ethnomathematics has a rich discussion because it has a broad perspective related to mathematics from a cultural point of view. Regional culture is one of the elements of the wealth of the archipelago, one of which is the undanese as the second-largest ethnic group after Java. Some of the traditional communities in the Sunda region are still closely related to the beliefs held and passed down from their ancestors. This study explores arithmetic used by the Sundanese people as a cultural heritage that can be used for activities in daily life and aims to determine the relationship of mathematics as an object of cultural studies from the point of view of philosophy and science, especially in the count of repok (calculation of match mate), and a good day to carry out the wedding. The method used in this study is an ethnographic method with a qualitative approach. The subjects used in this study were limited to one person using the purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques using literature review, observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study conclude that in the calculation of repok there is an ethnomathematical relationship, namely mathematics as an object of cultural studies in the perspective of philosophy and science that has truth values and is believed.
