Error Analysis in Solving Linear Equations System in Two Variables (LESTV) Problems a) Departemen Pendidikan Matematika, Fakultas Pendidikan Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Jl. Setia Budhi No. 229, Bandung 40154, Indonesia Abstract A Linear Equation System in Two Variables (LESTV) is a mathematical concept that is closely related to real-life problems. Contextual problems, which are typically presented as word problems, are complicated problems that must be solved in numerous steps. It is undeniable that word problems raise various obstacles for students in solving them. This study aimed to describe the various mistakes made by students at each stage of solving word problems based on past research and test findings. A qualitative research approach was used in this study, which was done on junior high school students. The Polya stage was used to do the error analysis. The findings show that students struggled to understand words and phrases, which limited their ability to model contextual questions. There were additional problems due to students^ inability to master the system^s completion procedures. Students who were not used to dealing with contextual issues frequently misinterpreted the results and hence did not respond to the question.
