Augmented Reality Learning Media based on Tetrahedral Chemical Representation: A Needs Analysis Chemistry Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sebelas Maret University, Jl. Ir. Sutami 36A Kentingan, Surakarta, 57126, Indonesia Abstract Teaching abstract chemistry concepts is a challenge for both chemistry teachers and students. One of the abstract and challenging topics for students to understand and be taught by teachers is the 3-dimensional visualization of molecular structures and sub-microscopic representations. Along with the development and accessibility of the latest computing technology, 3D representation and visualization can be done with digital simulations using Augmented Reality (AR) technology. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the needs of chemistry teachers and students regarding AR learning media based on tetrahedral chemical representation. This study was conducted on 15 chemistry teachers and 35 students in class XI in North Sumatera. The survey method with data collection techniques using online questionnaires distributed via google form was used in this study. The results of the questionnaire analysis show that teachers and students need learning media in the chemistry learning process that can visualize the abstract concept. This research implies that the development of learning media based on augmented reality based on chemical tetrahedral representation is needed to support the ongoing learning of chemistry in improving student learning outcomes Keywords: Augmented Reality, Tetrahedral Chemical Representation Topic: Chemistry Education |
