Abstract

The development of science teaching materials based on marine aquaculture bioecology with floating net cage technology is a medium to connect the environment around students with the learning process in the classroom to improve students^ scientific literacy skills. The purpose of this research is to develop science teaching materials based on marine aquaculture bioecology with floating net cage technology to improve students^ scientific literacy skills at Lombok coastal schools. This research is research and development that refers to Thiagarajan^s 4D development model which includes the stages of design, define, develop, and disseminate. The research subjects consisted of 6 junior high schools on the coast of Lombok which were determined using purposive sampling technique. The instrument used is a scientific literacy assessment instrument consisting of 16 reasoned multiple choice questions. Data were analyzed using normalized gain analysis. The results showed that science teaching materials based on marine aquaculture bioecology with floating net cage technology were effective in increasing students^ scientific literacy skills with an average N-gain value of 0.5 in the medium category. Thus, it can be concluded that science teaching materials based on marine aquaculture bioecology with floating net cage technology are effective in improving the scientific literacy skills of junior high school students on the coast of Lombok.
