The Influence of the Use of Group Investigation Cooperative Learning Model on Students^ Mathematical Problem Solving Ability (Research in Class VII SMPN 1 Singaparna 2010/2011). a) Siliwangi University jalan Tasikmalaya, Indonesia Abstract In an effort to improve problem solving, teachers must use appropriate learning models and in accordance with educational provisions that are innovative and creative. In general, teachers use the easiest and most practical way for themselves in learning. In learning, students are not familiar with non-routine questions, so that the problem solving abilities of students are not optimal. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability to solve mathematical problems using the group investigation model and direct learning model. The research method used is the experimental method. The data collection technique in this study was to carry out a mathematical problem solving ability test which was carried out 2 times. The research instrument used is a matter of ability test mathematical problem solving each as many as 4 questions in the form of a description. The population in this study were 289 students of class VII SMP. Sampling was carried out randomly. The sample was class VII D as the experimental class using group investigation and VII G as the control class using direct learning. The data analysis technique used the difference test of two averages. Based on the results of hypothesis testing, the results of students^ mathematical problem solving using the group investigation type cooperative learning model are better than direct learning.
