Abstract

In the 21st century competencies, communication skills are some of the core competences required in a globalized world. Science teacher have to master in representational for communicate and be aware of the students difficulties in understanding science concept Science communication is multimodal in that it comprises other communicative modes, such as images, graphs, symbols, gestures and material objects. Refers to three aspect of representational fluency consisting of: 1) visualization is defined as the process of making meaning out of representations, 2) metavisualisation is someone able to acquire, monitor, integrate, and extend, learning from representations, and 3) metarepresentational competence is someone able to understand the rationale and design strategies of creating particular representations, ths study aims to determine representational fluency as part of science communication skills in pre-service physics teacher. How fluent pre-service physics teacher in represent the concept of static electricity was measured using 15 valid and reliable representational fluency multiple chioce test that includes four component of representational fluency: constructing single representation, constructing multiple representation, translating between representation and reviewing single representation. The findings of the present study indicate that although students had started to learn concepts of static electricity their representational fluency is still low.
