Abstract

Work and energy are one of the physics concepts that require conceptual understanding for students. In addition, student skills also need to be trained to support students^ conceptual understanding such as critical thinking skills and communication skills. However, the required skill instruments still need to be developed so that they can be properly trained on students. The instrument that can be used in the concept of work and energy is the ACTCS (Assessment of Critical thinking and Communication Skills) instrument. The purpose of this study was to develop the ACTCS instrument with the ADDIE research method (Analyzing, Designing, Developing, Implementation, Evaluation). The ACTCS data collected were analyzed using the classic anatesv4 test method for critical thinking skills and Rasch model which included analysis of validity, reliability, discrimination power and level of difficulty. The subject was 30 students of K-10 students in Padang. The results of data analysis show that ACTCS has most of the items that are already valid, the reliability of critical thinking skills is 0.78 high criteria and the reliability of written communication skills is 0.56 students and items is 0.96 good criteria, can distinguish the level of difficulty of the instrument items and differentiating the ability level of students. Based on these results, it can be concluded that ACTCS can be used to train students^ critical thinking and communication skills on the work and energy concepts.
