Abstract

This study aims to develop teaching materials about acid-base based on the socio scientific issue. The research method used is Developmental Research (DR) using the Four Steps Teaching Material Development (4S-TMD) method. The stages of developing teaching materials include 4 stages, namely selection, structuring, characterization and didactic reduction. The development of this selection stage includes the suitability of indicators with concept labels, the correctness of the acid-base concept using standardized textbook sources, the correctness of the content context and the correctness of the socio-scientific issue-based pedagogic context that can be related to the acid-base concept. The results of this selection stage are evaluated by expert lecturers. The results of this selection stage research indicate that the teaching materials developed are in accordance with the demands of the curriculum, the context of the content presented in accordance with the socio-scientific issue aspects developed is valid. The first part of the development of teaching materials which includes the steps of the selection stage results in the design of acid-base teaching materials based on the socio-scientific issue.
