Textbook are one of the forms of learning resources needed by students, but the available books have not been presented in an innovative way and need to be equipped with examples of species so there is a need for the role of technology in developing textbooks so that students are more motivated. The purpose of this study was to analyze the need for textbooks and describe student perceptions of vertebrate zoology lectures. This research is a descriptive analysis research conducted using a survey method through questionnaires and interviews which were distributed to students online. The number of samples in this study were 32 students of Biology Education FKIP Unpas. The results showed that 96.9% of students stated that it was necessary to develop digital-based vertebrate zoology textbooks, 64% of students stated that they had a deeper curiosity about the existence of the animals being studied, 68% of textbooks needed to be equipped with photos of species and species.
