Exploring junior high school students^ perspectives toward pro-environmental behavior (PEB) is essential in buffer cities around the new capital area. This paper is an explorative study of students^ PEB from closest cities to the new capital cities. Data collection used the 2-MEV (Two Major Environmental Value) and Appreciation of Nature instrument that consists of 21 items. The measurement aspects are Preservation, Utilization, and Appreciation. Data was illustrated by 200 junior high school students who participated in our online questionnaire. Analysis of the data was conducted by the descriptive statistics and correlation for each aspect. Among the elements, Utilization was identified as the element with highest score. The highest correlation obtained was between Appreciation and Preservation, which was significant and positive. The findings also indicated that the more they appreciate nature, the more the tendency to preserve the environment. Our results could provide relevant insights for the design of Environmental Education to support Indonesian New Capital City.
