DEVELOPMENT OF LIFE SKILLS THROUGH SOCCER

Abstract

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world, so many people, especially young people, are involved in playing football. Problems that are often found by young people who are involved in football are not respecting the referee^s decisions, celebrating too much when winning, speaking poorly during matches. In addition, the cooperation that is established is less harmonious, confused to solve problems and make the right decisions in a short time. The purpose of this study is to develop a life skills-based soccer training model so that young people become positive. The research method used is research and development (R&D) with the ADDIE procedure which consists of five development steps including- analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation. The research sample amounted to 60 people who were divided into two groups, 30 people in the model development group and 30 people in the control group. The instrument used is a life skills questionnaire. The findings of the research show that the developed model is valid, practical, and effective. The feasibility test (validity) by the material expert resulted in an average score (4.3), and the practitioner produced an average score (4.1) so that it was in the valid category. The practicality test of the model by respondents from small, medium, and field trials resulted in an average score (3.8) which was in the practical category. The effectiveness test was obtained from the different test of the model development group with the control group the average difference (25.7) was greater than the model development group. It is concluded that the development of an effective life skills-based model contributes to positive youth development.
