Research on risk identification and response of large-scale sports events in the context of the Russia-Ukraine Geopolitical Conflict Harbin Sport University Abstract The Russian-Ukrainian conflict that broke out on February 24, 2022, has become an important catalyst for the evolution of the geopolitical pattern in the world today, the global international sports governance system has suffered a major impact, and large-scale international events in Ukraine and Russia are facing a comprehensive escalation of risks. The purpose of this paper is to take the Russian-Ukrainian conflict as an example, identify the risk factors in the preparation and operation of large-scale international events under the geopolitical conflict, and propose corresponding strategies for the risk prevention of the event. The study shows that large-scale events in Ukraine and Russia mainly face the risk of political boycott, the risk of income loss, the risk of commercial sponsorship, the risk of athlete participation, the risk of competition arrangement, the risk of regional economic risk, etc. To this end, relevant event organizations should improve the resilience of event risk governance from the aspects of formulating emergency plans, exploring risk avoidance mechanisms, and seeking international assistance.
