Sport Development Index and its Relation to the Grand Design National Sport of Indonesia

Abstract

This paper is confined to describing the concept of Sport Development Index (SDI) and its role towards the Grand Design of National Sports (Desain Besar Olahraga Nasional:DBON) of Indonesia. The Government of Indonesia has established the Grand Design of National Sports based on the Presidential Regulation Number 86/2022 and Sport Law Number 11/2022 as the legal basis and umbrella for the implementation of development of sports in Indonesia. The big question is how to measure the development of sports? The concept, methods and research implementation of SDI will be described and its results will be reported. The goals of DBON will be stated and the role of SDI as a catalysator to create the ecosystem of sports development, moderator or facilitator of stakeholders in achieving development goals, and as an instrument to measure progress of sports development and to identify the potential capital of competitiveness for the development of sports industry.
