The Three Heroes of Indonesian Women^s Tennis: Bringing the Name of the Indonesian Nation to the International World Universitas Negeri Surabaya Abstract Tennis has been known and played in Indonesia since the Dutch colonial era, especially in the early twentieth century. In 1935, the parent organization of Indonesian tennis was formed under the name of the Indonesian Lawn Tennis Association (PELTI). Since that year, tennis is increasingly being developed in Indonesia in order to strengthen Indonesian identity and achievement. From the 1970s to the 1990s, Indonesia had three great female tennis athletes, namely, Lany Kaligis, Lita Sugiarto and Yayuk Basuki. The three of them often bring the name of the Indonesian nation to the international world through tennis. Lany Kaligid and Lita Sugiarto contributed by winning gold medals at the 1966 Bangkok Asian Games, 1974 Tehran Asian Games. Meanwhile, Yayuk Basuki presented four gold medals at the 1986 Seoul Asian Games, 1990 Beijing Asian Games and 1998 Bangkok Asian Games.
