This competition encourages stakeholders^ views that international sporting achievements affect the prestige and national identity of a nation. Sports competition at the global level also has an impact on the role and relevance of sport in society which is also constantly evolving, as sport has been recognized by the United Nations as an important instrument in the agenda of sustainable development goals (2015 - 2030). This highlights how developed countries benefit more from investing in elite sports compared to developing countries. The purpose of writing this manuscript is to find out the actual condition of sports coaching and development in Indonesia as one of the developing countries in Asia. How to implement the governance of sports coaching and development as well as by paying attention to the important aspect, namely social capital as a concept that is able to make an important contribution to sports community health, welfare, and understanding of relationships. Through a multidimensional approach with mixed method research, using SPLISS (Sport Policy Leading into International Sporting Success) analysis and the club social capital scale in several team sports in the province of West Java as one of the regions that actively contributes to Indonesia^s sports achievements at the international level. Because it is in line with sport for development and peace as a goal of sustainable development, it is necessary to have an adequate system to bridge between international sporting achievements and national development, so that it is hoped that a progressive view will be developed that sport is a wider arena not only for sport itself, but also for sport as an instrument of national development.
