Implications of the successful event management experience of the Beijing Winter Olympics for the management of large-scale sports events

Abstract

Based on the knowledge of large sporting events management, this paper uses literature and logical analysis to discuss the successful experience of large sporting events management in the Beijing Winter Olympics in a more systematic way. One of the successes of the Beijing Winter Olympics was the rapid response of its staff to the prevention work and emergency situations. The Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee attaches importance to the knowledge management of sports events, incorporates all the successful experiences and knowledge of previous Winter Olympics into its own knowledge base, and builds a knowledge management system suitable for itself. The Winter Olympic Organizing Committee establishes a knowledge management system to meet the staff^s demand for knowledge and information in a timely manner and provide a constant source of knowledge resources for the staff of the Organizing Committee. It enables the staff to make the quickest and most accurate response to the sports events in the shortest time, especially to deal with the unexpected incidents of the events, and provide fast, efficient and enthusiastic services for the Winter Olympics. Finally, this paper draws on the successful experience of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games large-scale sporting events and suggests which successful experiences and knowledge of the management of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games large-scale sporting events are worth learning and provide inspiration for the management of other large-scale sporting events.
