Abstract

Innovative, creative, and integrative learning with project-based is currently the choice in preparing a 21st Century skills for students and accommodates the implementation of the Free Learning Curriculum. Research has been carried out through the development and implementation of PjBL-STEM learning with the Jigsaw strategy on the theme of solar cell technology in grade 9 to improve critical thinking skills and communication skills. The research was conducted using a quasi-experimental method with a pre-post-test control group design, to examine the improvement of students^ critical thinking skills. The research was also done using descriptive analysis methods to examine communication skills after the learning. The research subjects were 2 x 30 high school students. The results showed that PjBL-STEM learning with the jigsaw strategy could train students to argue, make inferences, and make deductions, build basic skills, tactics, and strategies better than the control class. The jigsaw strategy causes students to become more confident and trained to have more intense discussions with both the initial group and the expert group. This leads to the improvement of students^ communication skills, much better than control class students with inquiry-guided learning.
