Abstract

As it is stated by the new Indonesia Curriculum (Curriculum of Merdeka Belajar), student diversity is a factor which needs to be as a consideration by teachers. Teachers should consider this diversity factor to select the learning model, learning approach, or appropriate learning strategy, because it will greatly affect to student learning outcomes and learning processes itself. Student diversity can be analyzed based on VARK learning style. The research was conducted to figure out the learning style of 7th grader and try to find out the relevancy with science learning process with PBL-STEM as a best practise. The descriptive study was used to have the complete explanation of the study. The interpretation of VARK learning style questionnaire is done by collecting the answers from a student and interpreted into ability point of VARK learning style. As many as 10 students have multi- modal Preference, meanwhile two students show tri-modals (VAK and VRA), three Students have Bi-modals (AK), and 5 students show single-modal (2V and 3 K). Learning with PBL-STEM provides full opportunities for students with multi-modal preferences to actively participate in every stage of learning. By the deep observation of step-by-step learning process, the research shows that the students who have multi-modals preference of learning show the very heavy activities. Students who have bi-modal or tri-model preferences also tend to follow the stages with equally well. Only children with single-modals look active when the learning process matches their preferences, for examples: Watch and visualize the issue given by the teacher (V) Copying teacher^s demonstration, actively searching for information, making a power point presentation, making a protype (K).
