Microplastics in River Water in Area of Klotok Landfill, Kediri City 1)Program Study of Environmental Engineering, Department of Biology, Faculty of Science and Technology, Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya - 60115, Indonesia Abstract The purpose of this study was to determine the abundance and density of microplastics in river water in the area of the Klotok Landfill, Kediri City. This research used five samples from five sampling points in the river, and the sampling was done with a water sampler. The extraction of the sample was carried out using the catalytic wet peroxide oxidation method. A density test was carried out using a ZnCl2 density gradient solution. Identification of microplastics using optical microscopy methods with the Dino-Lite Edge Digital Microscope and DinoCapture 2.0 software. The result showed that the types of microplastics obtained in the sample were fragments, filaments, films, foams, granules, and pellets, with a total abundance of microplastics in the water samples of 35,656 particles/L. Then, the density of microplastics in water river samples ranged from 0.8-1.3 g/cm3. Keywords: Density, Klotok Landfill, Microplastic, Total Abundance, Types Topic: Sustainable Cities |
