Abstract

This study examines the relationship between green logistics management practices, cross-country ICT development status, and sustainability performance in the manufacturing sector of Ghana and Indonesia. A descriptive survey design and quantitative approach were employed, and data was collected from manufacturing firms in the two countries. The sample consisted of 374 manufacturing companies in Ghana and 379 manufacturing companies in Indonesia. The study used an Ordinary Least Squares model to analyze the data. The findings indicate a significant positive relationship between green transportation, waste management, energy efficiency, sustainable packaging, and sustainability performance in both countries. Cross-country ICT development status was found to have a positive impact on sustainability performance. Moreover, the interaction effects between cross-country ICT development status and specific green logistics practices were found to significantly enhance sustainability performance. The findings have practical implications for manufacturing firms, emphasizing the importance of implementing green practices and leveraging ICT development to enhance sustainability performance. Policymakers are encouraged to promote sustainable practices and invest in ICT infrastructure to support the adoption of green logistics management practices. Theoretical contributions include the integration of resource-based and institutional theories, providing a comprehensive understanding of the relationships between distinct resources, institutional factors, and sustainability outcomes. The study contributes to the international literature by providing empirical evidence on the relationship between green logistics practices, ICT development, and sustainability performance in the manufacturing sector. It offers valuable insights for practitioners, policymakers, and re-searchers seeking to drive positive environmental and social impacts in manufacturing companies.
