MAPPING CURRENT EVOLUTION AND TRENDS OF ENVIRONMENTAL, SOCIAL, GOVERNANCE INFLUENCES ON FIRM PERFORMANCE

Abstract

The primary objective of this bibliometric study is to map research on environmental issues, social issues, and governance issues. The Scopus database was used as the source of the data, and the topic of study was the influence of environmental, social, and governance factors on the performance of corporations or other types of businesses. The search for papers that have been completed and published in English, as well as the search for publications using the terms ^environmental,^ ^social,^ and ^government^ (ESG). According to the findings of the data analysis, there were 976 different articles looked at. The data showed that there was a clear increase in the total number of research articles published beginning in 1998, with the United Kingdom being the country that published the most publications on ecological, social, and governance issues. VOS Viewer organizes the most frequently used search terms into eight distinct groups, which are then given to the user. These groups include the terms Sustainability, CSR, Climate change, Covid-19, Environmental, Environmental performance, ESG and Certification. Serafeim G. has the most, with a total of 1,694 citations in 2 articles, although Cheng B. has 1,407 citations, which is as many as Ioannou I. in one article. Bennett J has the most published articles (6 articles), but he has 659 citations. This research has the potential to serve as a point of reference for future studies on the subject of the link between variables linked to the environment, society, and governance and the performance of companies.
