Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of compensation on the performance of lecturers^ scientific publications by mediating engagement in the new normal era. In the context of higher education, scientific publications are an important indicator in assessing the quality and productivity of lecturers. In addition, lecturer engagement also has an important role in influencing their performance.
The research method uses a quantitative and verification approach. This study used a census sampling technique, in which all lecturers (as many as 153 people) from higher education institutions involved in this study were sampled. Data was collected through a questionnaire which included variables related to compensation, scientific publication performance, and lecturer engagement. Data analysis in this study used the PLS-SEM statistical application.
The results of the analysis show that compensation has a significant positive effect on the performance of lecturers^ scientific publications. Furthermore, lecturer engagement also mediates the relationship between compensation and scientific publication performance. In other words, the higher the level of compensation received by lecturers, the higher the performance of their scientific publications, with engagement acting as an intermediary factor.
This research makes an important contribution in the context of human resource management in higher education institutions. The results of this study can be used as a reference for lecturer development policies, especially in terms of fair and adequate compensation. In addition, this research also strengthens the understanding of the importance of engagement in improving the performance of lecturers^ scientific publications.
