Abstract

Talent is a higher capacity possessed by someone and it is genetic in nature which is determined by the environment in the developmental process until it reaches an optimal stage. Finding the talent of a child requires a valid and reliable instrument capable of detecting that talent. This research is the first step in the study of giftedness in children by using SEKORA talent detection instrument: Anthropometric, Physical Performance (PP), and Motor Coordination (MC) variables. Furthermore, through machine learning analysis, it will find children^s giftedness in sports and reveal the differences between students who trained and not in sports club. This study involved 1001 children (boys = 518, girls = 483) in Pekanbaru city in the age of 7-12 years and consisted of two sample groups (trained or not in sports club). The research results provided information based on Anthropometric, PP, and MC variable tests, 31 sports were found that matched these variables. Five sports had the highest level of compatibility with the characteristics of these children, including Rhythmic Gymnastics (total=272- boys=91, girls=181), Golf (total=200- boys=104, girls=96), Horse riding (total=178- boys=98, girls=80), Volleyball (total=80- boys=63, girls=17) and Dance (total=58- boys=9, girls=49). Based on the results, it was also found that there was no difference in Anthropometry between students who trained and not in sport club, it turned out the participation of students in sports clubs had no effect on the Anthropometry variable (p=0.278>0.05). However, student participation in sports clubs affected the PP and MC variables (p=0.000<0.05).
