Abstract
Positive Youth Development (PYD) is a strengths-based perspective that focuses on building naturally occurring skills and the potential to aid healthy development and adaptive functioning (O^Connor et al., 2020- Lerner et al., 2005). The application of PYD in schools needs to be implemented as an effort to support students to educate students in a positive direction and avoid negative things such as drug addiction, promiscuity and others. In this application, support from the school is needed, namely the school principal, school teachers, and especially the Physical Education teacher. Support or motivation from the school can be one of the things that make it easier to carry out PYD at school.
The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative and narrative literature review. Data collection techniques using library research. Types of data using textual or conceptual. Aspects of analysis include definitions, concepts, views, thoughts and arguments. The data source in this research is secondary data and refers to Positive Youth Development (PYD).
Results of research- the importance of the role of school principals and physical education teachers in implementing PYD in schools, the importance of PYD in directing positive youth to grow life skills through activities that can encourage students to be active in the movement. This is because youth sports, whether organized by PE teachers, youth development workers, coaches and, sports animators, or [police officers, are still defined as important venues for restoring moral values healthy lifestyles and thereby rebuilding communities that are divided and avoiding social exclusion (Hylton & Braham, 2007.)
The conclusion is that PYD activities in schools need to be implemented with support and assistance from the school principal as a policy maker and assisted by physical education teachers in schools so that youth in schools become more guided to become young people who are healthy and have life skills.
