Design and Development of IoT-Based Distributed Vibration Recording Instrument a) Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran Abstract The IoT technology has a vast range of applications in nowadays human activities. The technology has tremendous capabilities, especially in the monitoring and automatization applications. In this work we report the development of wireless vibration sensors in order to detect the ground vibrations, based on the SM-4 geophone sensors. This study demonstrates the feasibility of deploying a cost-effective geophone sensor system, through testing the wireless functionality. The IoT Ground Vibration Recorder integrates a 10 Hz vertical geophone sensor with an ESP32 DevKit V1 board, using the ESP NOW protocol for wireless communication and data transmission. Data transmission involves a structured header and body. Field tests encompass diverse conditions: open land, buffer zones, and dense vegetation areas.
